Which leads me directly in medias res: the rosa mosa men are not golden men, because they refuse to cook. Actually one of them does cook, to be on the fair side. i am talking about daily rosa mosa Vienna studio life and our need of food at lunchtime. We once more or less gave up eating out as well us buying the same crappy sandwiches everyday and started to cook on a daily base. Currently three of us are turning the spoon but the fourth one doesn’t. it’s a pitty because I know he has very hidden (cooking) qualities (fried rice), besides having a deep interest in france and French cuisine (the meaty side only though- he confesses to be a true ‘meatarian’), which we could all benefit from. Not to talk about the magnificent fruits platters hed did for us, that made us cry of too much beauty in the past… however, I partially wanted to share with you only visually this weekend’s colourful market purchase- MANGOLD, which will be transformed into little steamed leaf-wrapped rice and minced beef balls in tomato sauce tomorrow- mhmmm.
I love love love our quick research trips across our austrian borders towards the east. We used to do this more often, but since we are a family we have become a bit- hmm lame I’m afraid. The refreshing part about these trips is, that you rarely find anyone or anything there that connects to fashion at first site. but by having a closer look, by diving a little deeper into this eastern mood, anything can become inspirational. The pink parker of an older lady, the combi with her petrol coloured velvet trousers. The gypsy madame who sells hand made baskets out of the car, the two flower-printed skirts she wears on top of her striped pants. It’s obviously not what we consider as hip or main stream. It has in fact nothing to do with that. But, translated in a good and clever way, impressions like these have the potential to be on next season’s catwalks. Internationally. In this I totally believe! and besides, I have been eating there the most delicious poppy seeds and cherry strudel of my life. Even just for this single reason I will always return.
