the best patterncutter of all, our mr. teppei from asakusa (former tokushima), has been asked to develop a range of red pumps from giant (60cm long) down to european size 37 order made for japan’s venezia biennale artist miwa yanagi. If you happen to be in tokyo right now, you might want to see these very particular shoes in real at the shiseido gallery exhibition space. please view http://www.shiseido.co.jp/gallery/current/html/index.htm for further details.
we have recently visited a village in ‘ausseerland’, the area in the middle of austria surrounded by mountains and lakes. However, this is not extraordinary enough to be mentioned, since that’s pretty much applying to the entire austrian landscape… however, people there seem to have quite excentric traditional habits: in order to get rid of the very long winter, men dress up as women and gather in the villages centre to ‘drum’ the winter away. In order to join the group, one has to pass an entrance examination. an applicant has to drink ¼ litre of schnaps in one go, blow up a balloon until it, smoke a cigar and eat a spicy pepperoni. It sounds like it might have a positive effect in a way that it makes at least forget people about the winter for a couple of days, because of being knocked out for a while. Besides, we would appreciate someone drumming for us big time, after having rain in vienna since a week and furthermore the icelandic cloud to fear.
just got this posted from this girl from nagoya wearing our buddha sahara sandals. lovely- thanks!
